I graduated from Discipleship Training School in Barbados. The focus of this DTS was Justice and Children at Risk. We studied the word of God as well as many other things, topics, people groups and injustices around the world. We went on a three month outreach at the end of the lecture phase for three months in Elbasan, Albania. We lived in a Roma Gypsy Village during the entire 3 months.

I am now attending the Bible Core Course with the University of the Nations in Worcester, South Africa. During this school I will be reading through the entire Bible as well as studying several books in depth using the inductive method.

The Messiah

Hi everyone! I studied the Gospel of John last week studying 8+ hours a day. The work needs to be turned in every Friday by 1pm. I was up Wednesday night until 2am and then stayed up Thursday until 5:30 on Friday! It's cool because instead of making myself get the work done I was happy to stay up and study!

Here is what my week looks like, every week we go through a different book of the Bible.
Monday we read through John chapter by chapter, without stopping. It is necessary when using the inductive Bible study method to read through the entire book in one sitting so that you get a clear picture of what the author was portraying.

The five steps of the Inductive Bible Study are,
  • Prayer: Asking the Lord to reveal himself to you and remove any preconceived ideas.
  • Observation: Who? Did what? To whom? When? Where? How? Why? What was the result?
  • Interpretation: What did the text say to the original person or church?
  • Application: What does the text say to me and how do I apply it to my life?
  • Proclamation: How should this passage be shared?
Observation:
After reading through the text you highlight different terms/words/phrases with their own respective colors.  (i.e. Names-underlined red, Places-underlined blue, Time Elements-underlined purple, Connectives-underlined orange, Contrasts-circled orange, etc....)
You give each paragraph a title that you believe summarizes the paragraph. The title needs to consist of up to four words from the text which need to remain in sequential order.
Next you make a horizontal, group paragraphs together to make a segment and group segments together to make a section and group sections together to make a division.
Find the key verse in the book and create your own title for the book.
Last but not least in the Observation is the Basic Required Information (who wrote it? where? To whom? etc....)

Interpretation & Application:
Ask specific questions about the text that require research to find the answer. Fill out a vertical form with the information you discovered and how you can apply it to your life.

Proclamation:
How should this message be shared?

Here is my final material for The Gospel of John! I pray you will memorize and meditate on Jeremiah 29:11. If continue to meditate on it and study/define each word, then I guarantee that the truth of that verse will sink deep into your heart and you will remember that amazing promise when you are doubting what's happening in your life! But don't think that's all you have to do, you need to crucify your old self as well! (Galatians 2:20-21)
